We know from experience that, for example, the Canon EF 70-200 mm f/2.8 L IS III also works well with both the 1.4x and 2x Extender. An additional bonus that the use of an Extender gives you is to increase the image scale in the near range.
An essential telezoom lens for sports, wildlife or portraits. The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM is a workhorse telephoto zoom lens designed for professional use. Buy the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Lens. Ditch the thought of the 2x tel-con. If you must get one buy the 1.4x. If you think you want 400mm look at the Canon EF 400mm f/5.6L USM Lens. It is a must have lens. Personally I don't like to tag a lens with a certain moniker. There isn't a 'landscape' lens per say.
The 70-200 f/2.8L IS II is compatible with the Canon Extender EF 1.4x III and Canon Extender EF 2x III as shown above. I generally recommend buying a lens with the focal lengths you need natively in them - they usually provide better image quality and focus speed. A 2x is going to significantly degrade image quality, but the kicker is the 100-400 ii at 200mm is sharper than the 70-200 f2.8 ii at 200mm and at 400mm is about the same center sharpness (or better) as the f2.8 ii at 200mm See photozone.de. Clearly the 70-200, f2.8 ii with a 2x extender is not going to be anywhere near as sharp as the 100-400 ii. pLjfaWq.
