Easiest solution would be to join a kingdom and conquer a town and have that be bestowed upon you. I haven't played for a while but I somewhat remember that when you leave a kingdom you can choose to keep the towns you have, but I suppose that means war. I suppose that's the way to leave a faction and make your own kingdom.

This thread is archived. It's pretty much the same system as warband. Just keep getting reputation with the faction and renown and ask the lords for tasks and eventually one will give you a merc. contract. If that doesn't work, try attacking their enemies.
as far i can tell, though i am a noob. Vassal: Shitty village with no economy that gets raided all the time. Mercenary: 1400 denars per week guranteed. Vassal: Sir Rayne gets rattled if i switch sides, bound by oath forever. Mercenary: Can refuse reenlistment at the end of the month with no negative impacts. 5YAV.
