While fast charging works on older iPhones with Apple's 18W USB-C charger, for whatever reason, Apple claims that you need at least a 20W charger to fast charge your iPhone 12. While 18W chargers are fast charge-capable according to Apple's support document, in that same document, Apple says that the iPhone 12 requires a 20W or better charger.

Any USB-C port on a personal computer, the USC-C charger from a recent Macbook Pro, iPhone or iPad, the charging puck and power brick from an older Apple Watch, or any vendor’s USB-C charger , from any store. 20watt USB-C charger will enable Fast charging on the Series 7.

It’s safe but you will need a usb c to usb c lead (if you don’t already have one) if you mean the current Apple 20w as the plug needs usb c but the lead for the paper white gen 5 is a normal usb for the plug and usb c for the device. Amazon didn't include a usb power adapter for a reason.

USB-C to Lightning Cable (1m) Bare in mind that whatever charger you are going to use the habit of charging stays with your phone. For example my phone chargers for less than 1A after 80% battery but if I leave it at night it will stop charging. So people stop worrying and enjoy your phones.
